Shad Centre for Special Children was established by Mrs. Karuna Shriram, a special educator, in 2016 under the aegis of Bansuri Charitable Society and TPDDL.

Shad Centre for Special Children aims to provide special needs children with adequate skills, ability and individualized therapies in order to integrate these children into mainstream, educational institutions and to ultimately make these children self-reliant, independent and productive members of the society.
The promoters of Bansuri Charitable Society come from a lineage of the Shriram business house that has been involved in nation building not only in the industrial field but also in the fields of education, research and development, art and culture. The country has recognized their contributions on many occasions.
