Bansuri Charitable Society was established in the year 2007 by Mr. Alok B. Shriram, and his wife Mrs. Karuna Shriram.

Shad Centre for Special Children was established by Mrs. Karuna Shriram, a special educator, in 2016 under the aegis of Bansuri Charitable Society and TPDDL.

Shad Centre for Special Children aims to provide special needs children with adequate skills, ability and individualized therapies in order to integrate these children into mainstream, educational institutions and to ultimately make these children self-reliant, independent and productive members of the society. The promoters of Bansuri Charitable Society come from a lineage of the Shriram business house that has been involved in nation building not only in the industrial field but also in the fields of education, research and development, art and culture. The country has recognized their contributions on many occasions.

As a part of the Tata Group, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. (TATA Power-DDL) believes in the Tata Group’s ethos of giving back to society. Rich heritage and unmatchable legacy of Tata Group for holistic development of underprivileged communities, societies and nation becomes the guiding force for adoption of community development initiatives. The community outreach programs aims to serve key communities in a systematic and planned way. Creating avenues for Education, Employability, Entrepreneurship, Health Services, Environment and Empowering marginalized societal sections and communities in distress are the focus areas of community development at TATA Power-DDL. TATA Power-DDL strives for achieving the milestones of sustainable development and inclusive growth.

KEY PROMOTERS

Mrs. Karuna Shriram

Mrs. Karuna Shriram is an Educationist and a Social Worker. Her commitment in the field of education and social welfare spans over two decades where she has given concrete shape directly to various education policies and welfare programmes. Mrs. Shriram has a Degree of Bachelor in Special Education (Mental Retardation), is a special educator and a member of the Rehabilitation Council of India.
She is a certified coach from The HANDLE Institute, Seattle, USA. The HANDLE Institute (THI) is a world-renowned authority on effective, noninvasive, drug free treatment of the root causes of neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan. She has worked with various NGO's like Aarth-Aastha, Salaam Baalak Trust, DSWSC, Tamana and others in various capacities including as a member of the Board. She works intensively with differently abled children especially in semi-urban and rural areas. Her primary focus and passion has been on mainstreaming such children.
She is a member of the Japan Committee of Asian University for Women, Bangladesh. Asian University for Women is the first liberal arts university for women in South Asia and is one of only two international universities in Bangladesh. She is also a member of PHD family welfare foundation, co-chair of Women & Child Development, Rotary Club of Delhi Premiere, member of FICCI ladies organization, member of Asavari executive & advisory committee and a Paul Harris Fellow.
She is the Vice President of Bansuri Charitable Trust and Chairperson of the Managing Committee of Dr. Bansi Dhar School, Kota, Rajasthan.


Mr. Alok B. Shriram

Mr. Alok B. Shriram is the Sr. Managing Director and CEO of DCM Shriram Industries Ltd., a part of The Shriram Group, a 125 year old Delhi based conglomerate started by Lala Shriram, a doyen of Indian Industry. The company has units namely Daurala Sugar Works, Daurala Organics, Shriram Rayons and Daurala Food and Beverages and DCM Hyundai Ltd. The Shriram Group has also been instrumental in setting up several education institutions such as Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Shri Ram College of Commerce, The Shri Ram School and I.P College for Women amongst others.
He was the former President of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry-a 110 year old National chamber based in Delhi having offices in 20 states and union territories. PHDCCI has over 48,000 members directly and indirectly and serves the interest of the MSME sector. He is also a member of the prestigious Rotary Club of Delhi Premiere.
As a part of its CSR initiative, DSIL set up, funded and is managing the Dr. Bansi Dhar School (DBDS), in Kota, Rajasthan under the Sir Shriram Social Development Society. DBDS is a progressive English medium senior secondary, co-educational day school affiliated to CBSE.
DBDS currently caters to the educational needs of over 1000 children from in an around Kota. The majority of the student population hails from a rural and semi-urban background.
